To my fellow boat enthusiasts:

Wow! Things are changing every day in the economy and in the global situation. Some things are changing at Ebbtide, too:

We have a new 21' dual console deck boat-the 210 dual console combines the roomy functionality of a deck boat with the bright colors and youthful attitude of a bow rider

We have a new 23' linered bow rider-the 2300 BRL with center walk-thru transom allows you to enjoy the beauty and the lines of the 2300 bow rider along with the functionality of a deck boat

  • Several models are now available with your choice of full carpeting or a fiberglass liner with snap-in carpet

  • We've added several "striping" options

  • Extended swim platforms are now offered on many models

  • We now have a 10-year hull warranty and a limited lifetime stringer warranty

But some things haven't changed:

We do things a little differently at Ebbtide. In the past, most "quality" boats were "hand-laid". But it's a slow process, and it's difficult to pump out tens of thousands of boats per day that way. Those manufacturers who felt the need for these large numbers went away from "hand-laid" to faster systems such as "chopping".

While a chopper gun is faster, there is also a great chance that the lay-up will be inconsistent. There is a tendency when "chopping" to put in more chop, which builds bulk, and less woven or knitted material, which builds strength. And, because more material is put on at one time, there also is a tendency to use more resin and less glass -- which creates a more brittle lay-up.

We choose to build fewer boats with more control over the process, but we are one of a very few boat builders left who fully hand-lay every boat.

Some may use terms like "hand-laminated" or "hand-rolled" to make it look like they are "hand-laid", but "the proof is in the pudding." Ask them if they use chopper guns. If they do, you're not getting a true "hand-laid" boat.

I've owned this company for more than 35 years. My philosophy has always been, and will continue to be, "better -- not more."

Each new model continues our dedication to excellence. We strive for a boat that will last and a ride that is brisk, smooth and quiet. Take a test-ride and you'll see for yourself what a difference Ebbtide can make for you and your family.

Happy boating, and please contact us with your stories, questions and suggestions at [email protected].
